On August 8, our studio mate Maura McCandlish was biking to teach her pottery class at District Clay when she was struck head-on by a car. She suffered a crushed femur, four broken vertebrae, three broken ribs and a broken scapula among other injuries. She always wore her helmet, and that saved her life. But she faces a long recovery with some steep financial challenges. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital and is now making amazing progress in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, and is finally able to do some walking with a cane. The OT and PT mean some big expenses, and she’s not back to work yet. Join us - Maura’s friends, family and pottery community of District Clay, Marymount University, Red Dirt Studio, and more- to celebrate Maura’s work and miraculous survival, and help her get back on her feet!
